What NEECA Does

Works with NEPRA to develop regulations for efficiency testing of power plants (GENCOs and IPPs), so testing becomes a formal requirement rather than a goodwill gesture.

Partners with the Ministry of Energy’s Power and Petroleum Divisions to align efficiency measures with long-term national energy planning.

Supports the design of Renewable Portfolio Standards together with NTDC, GENCOs, and IPPs thelping renewable energy take a larger share of the mix where transmission capacity allows.

Helps build energy efficiency provisions into the wider regulatory landscape, from Power Generation Policy to OGRA’s rules for the petroleum sector .

Why It Matters

Clear rules and coordinated policy are what turn the sector's 2030 targets, 1.45 MTOE in energy savings and around 7 MTCO₂ in emission cuts, into an achievable, nationwide effort rather than a handful of isolated wins.
