What NEECA Does

Works with PSQCA and technical stakeholders to draft Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) for equipment including transformers and cables, targeted for development by 2026.

Reviews and updates standards on an ongoing basis, drawing on manufacturers and technical experts to keep pace with evolving technology.

Extends the same proven approach used for appliances (fans, ACs, motors) to the high-voltage equipment that keeps the grid running.

Coordinates with international testing bodies and accredited laboratories to align Pakistan's standards with global best practices.

Why It Matters

Quality standards for transmission and distribution equipment go straight to the source of the problem: Pakistan's power network currently loses an average of 20% of the electricity it carries, well above the 6% seen in efficient networks worldwide.
